THE TRAGICOMEDY OF OUR TIME

Two weeks ago I ended the forth season of Bojack Horseman, so I decided to write down some of my thoughts of this outstanding Netflix tv series.

At first, it looks just like an ordinary, amusing time killer with about a midlife crisis. The action is set in an animated world, where anthropomorphic animals live with people on equal footing. Quickly we can find out that this series has a hidden agenda.

First of all, this is one of the few animations which you should watch the episode after the episode, the action develops through them.  We get to very complicated and complex  characters with many moral attitudes, at the head with Bojack.

He was a TV star in the 90s with a very popular sitcom Horsing Around, a few years after the release of the last episode everyone forgets about him. In time this series encourages you to think about your own life. The subject of sadness and despair is shown in every episode. The basis of the series is existential nihilism, the meaningless of life. It's almost depressing, but yet so real and very accurately embedded in reality.

In my opinion, there are no animations, which like this one can arouse such strong emotions. It is funny that this animation tells more about the fact that life is not a fairy tale than many serious productions.

  1. OMG do you know Bojack Horseman? I thought it was just me who watch his adventures (wink). I really like that it shows normal people problems, and everyone can find himself/herself in one of the main characters. It's not like any other animated series - like every episode tells a different, not connected story. Here there are some stories but they are told epiose by episode,so we have to follow every episode, to get to know what's happening. Thanks to that we can see how main characters are changing, how their way of thinking is changing, how they are becoming more aware and more sensitive. I really want to recommend this series to everyone. After two or three episodes, you won't stop watching it until the end of fourth season. And don't treat it just like a normal cartoon, because it's definitely not.
    Greetings,
    Proscovia.
